kunstknive5.jpg (23828 bytes) In the upper part of the birch tree-trunk you can see an example of the very special knives made by Poul Kjaer. He makes most of his knives with a wooden sheath, in such a way that there is an almost invisible section between the handle and the sheath. For this knife Poul Kjaer have chosen a blade made by the Danish blade smith Thomas Noergaard in iron age style, and this style of blade is common in Poul Kjaer’s knives.

On the bottom part of the trunk we have placed 3 Same knives, that we borrowed from Gallery Norden in Struer, Denmark. The 2 knives on each side are so-called "half horn" knives, because the lower part of the sheath is made from reindeer antlers, and the upper part from reindeer leather. The middle knife is a so-called "koltknife" that the same people carry in their suit. The sheath for this knife is made from birch-bark, and after the shaping and some drying this forms a very stable sheath. This knife is made by Stig "Koltstickan" from Sweden.
